MW2 a casualty of cheaters on PSN

The PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 has come under fire from rampant cheating, as evinced by blatantly inaccurate leaderboard data that shows some players having logged in hundreds of days with the game.

Everything 4 Gamers observes multiple PSN handles trumpeting the number one spot on the overall leaderboard, though that's obviously not possible.

CVG lodges a similar complaint with cheaters manipulating statistics to show that they've been playing Modern Warfare 2 for hundreds of days. Given that the game has only been publicly available since November 10, that's impossible too.

Infinity Ward has yet to issue comment on the matter, though calls for a reset of the leaderboards has been made. It would be a controversial move since doing so would erase multiplayer progress for everyone on the PS3 version, but it would serve to clear out the scammed stats.

This is the second fire Infinity Ward has had to put out on the PS3 version, the first rendering multiplayer dysfunctional until a server patch was issued.
