The commonly-held belief that Playboys are more likely to cheat on their partners rather than the other way round is untrue, a new survey has discovered.

A poll of 3,000 people conducted by Opera North found that two fifths of women have cheated, compared to three in ten blokes.

Kissing someone while out clubbing was the main crime, committed by forty per cent of ladies, while a quarter misbehaved with a colleague at a work event.

More than a third claim their cheating came about as a result of their flirting getting out of hand.

A spokesman for Opera North said that many ladies take the view that they didn't mean to cheat and ended up doing it by accident.

"The poll seems to suggest many women consider flirtatious behaviour as harmless and can easily forgive themselves the odd 'indiscretion'," he stated.

In other news, a study from Oklahoma State University recently found that women have a preference for Playboys already in a relationship.
