Brad Pitt is attempting to bring about a moustache revolution and may have tipped the way for a comeback of the facial hair, says one commentator.

Carola Long, writing for the Independent, says recently the Hollywood actor revealed his love for the facial feature and that he does not think they get enough respect.

The commentator says a recent peek at Pitt's face showed he has benefitted from the "40s fighter-pilot facial hair".

She says: "I got a fairly close-up look at a mustachioed Pitt on the red carpet for the Baftas, and to my surprise his well-documented good looks were only enhanced by the [moustache]."

Ms Long thinks celeb endorsement was all that was needed to get the trend up and kicking, saying models on the catwalk have recently been sporting the look.

One woman who can profess to be a moustache expert, Jennifer Chase, head of male grooming at the Mathew Alexander salon in Mayfair, advises men think carefully about the move before ditching their razor.

She says consider size and how it will match the hairstyle and also advises against a My Name Is Earl or Hulk Hogan look.

Ms Long's view goes against those of Luke Leitch, from the Guardian, who says many men who try to pull off the moustache look quite ridiculous.
