She is everything a lady shouldn’t be - rude, conniving, spoilt and ruthless. Smart and confident she’s the most beautiful woman in the room, but she knows it. She's a diva who's used to getting men wrapped round her little finger, especially in the bedroom, but she's not going to want to stay with the men who are gazing up at her like useless besotted puppies, so if you want to keep her you need to take control.

It’s important to constantly remind yourself about exactly who wears the trousers in the relationship. The diva type can be dangerous and controlling, and nowhere does she feel more powerful than in her main territory - the bedroom. It is within these four walls that she truly lives up to her reputation. She is demanding, selfish and will treat you like a piece of meat before picking what's left of your gristle out of her teeth and moving on. So you need to be prepared.

According to relationship specialist, Dr Oktay Ali Cetinkaya, the best way of dealing with a diva in the bedroom is by giving her a taste of her own medicine. “Although they want to be in control most of the time, a lot of divas are fond of men that show power and competitiveness,” he says.

So don’t be afraid to stand up to her. You should be firm and confidant, otherwise she will walk all over you. During sex, make sure that you are always the one who is in control. So when she tries to change position, don't let her get her way. Be firm without being violent and make it be known that you will change only when you're ready to. That is not to say that you shouldn't be responsive to her needs but make sure you maintain the upper hand. As long as you're turning her on, she won't stop you.

And making a strong start to a relationship can be vital; if you get off on the wrong foot, it's hard to go back, so a no nonsense approach right from the beginning is more likely to bring results. “She needs to know right from the beginning that you’re not going to take any of her temper tantrums,” says Dr Cetinkaya. “If she’s noticed any indication of weakness at the beginning of the relationship, she’ll remain convinced that you’re weak, even after you put on a stern front.”

Maintaining this dominant position can become especially hard if role playing is involved so endeavor to quash any suggestions of games that will give her a taste of power. Relationship expert Dr Pippa Sheffields warns: “If she gets even the smallest taste of dominance, she might like it and will try to take over at every opportunity." So while role playing is healthy, be careful not to play any games that are likely to bring out the worst in her.

Foreplay is an especially key area to assert your dominance. One way that sexually aggressive women can tell what you're made of is through the politics of oral sex. While it is always important to pleasure your partner orally, don't be afraid of withholding your tongue if she is reluctant to stand up to her end of the bargain. If you're going down on her all the time without seeing any return on your dividends then she will soon know that she has found a sucker, and we know who we prefer to be the sucker in a relationship.
